I'm a T1D. I have had Type I diabetes for 26 years, have a pump at my hip, and I'm doing great!. Raising money for the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) is one of my main goals.

I get my insulin pump!
This is my new insulin pump. It's an Animas, and it arrived the day before Christmas, in a big box full of all sorts of paraphrenalia. I just got it hooked up on Friday. Right now it is pumping saline so I can learn how to use it without any risk -- a trial run, I suppose. Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 17, will be the day I start with insulin.

Congratulations!!
I've been on the insulin pump for 2.5 years and I love it. 15 years into Type 1 and I have freedoms that I never imagined!
Good luck with your new appendage.
Candice - I wasn't sure how else to contact you... so, thanks for your kind words and excellent suggestions for future podcasts. I'm working on a couple of podcasts about family therapy and related treatment models. I like your idea about addressing "hoax" treatments. I'd also like to do a series on diagnoses (like major depressive disorder, ADHD, PTSD, etc). Thanks for subscribing! Best regards, Jonathan
